Firsts race to victory at Drumaness
Gary Knox claimed 2 for 6 and scored a steady undefeated 29
Donaghcloney made the trip to Drumaness on Saturday past, looking to continue the strong form displayed in the league to date. Drumaness won the toss and elected to take the first use of what looked to be a true and good batting track.
The home team wasted no time in taking advantage of the short boundaries and lightning quick outfield, as they attacked anything erring in line length from the Donaghcloney new ball attack of Jonny Stevenson and Matthew Lyttle.
Drumaness openers Oldroyd and skipper Deegan seemed at ease as they raced along at 5 an over as they brought up the fifty partnership in the 10th over. Skipper Keith Martin then turned to Gary Knox in a hope to make a breakthrough and put the brakes on the Drumaness charge. read more…
Donaghcloney welcomed Larne to the Factory Ground for a mid-week two nighter on Tuesday and Wednesday. With skipper Keith Martin delayed Tim McClure, standing in, won the toss and was left with little option but to bat as many of the team struggled to make the start time.
Timmy McClure claimed a career first hat-trick for the club.
The enforced decision could easily have backfired as the playing surface had been under water due to the previous nights deluge and offered the Larne attack plenty of assistance. Junior Cricket Summer Scheme
Donaghcloney are delighted to announce that there will be a Junior Cricket Scheme running throughout the summer. It will be held on a Mon/Wed/Fri from 10am-1pm during July and August. The cost will be £5 per week and anyone one under the age of 16 is very welcome to come down and join in.
Indrajeet Kamtekar Will be running the the coaching sessions. “Kame” as he is known played for Donaghcloney for 2 seasons before moving to Muckamore where he is having another very successful year with both the bat and ball. It will be great to have him back at the club and for him to share his wealth of knowledge to all involved in the Junior Scheme.

Stevie Lyttle had a match winning 46 not out
On Saturday Donaghcloney 2nds travelled to Belmont to take on CIYMS who they had defeated on the previous Saturday. With the 1st XI having no fixture Raymie Matthews was able to include experienced Tim McClure and the promising Matthew Lyttle in his squad. As of last week CIYMS won the toss and elected to bat. The decision seemed to backfire as McClure and Lyttle opened the attack, with young Matthew claiming 2 wickets in is first over including the vastly experienced Alan Sleith thanks to a stunning gully catch by skipper Matthews.
2nds fall to heavy defeat by Lurgan
Keith Ogle a good game with both ball and bat
Donaghcloney 2nds travelled to illustrious neighbours Lurgan for a two night derby match at Pollock Park last Tuesday and Wednesday evening. On winning the toss the Lurgan captain opted to take first used of the track.
With the 1st XI out turning out on the same evenings, Raymie Matthews always new his charges faced an uphill struggle. This coupled with the loss of strike bowlers Willie Fisher and Stuart Copeland the task became even less enviable.
