Donaghcloney hosted Cooke Collegians in a vital game on Saturday past. The opponents are at the top of the table along with Donaghcloney and Millpark in the race for the two promotion spots.
Donaghcloney batted first with captain Keith Martin and Lyness Topping striding out to the middle. The pair batted confidently as they aimed to see of the opening bowlers, until Martin was out caught at square leg for 14 with the total on 35 in the 13th over.

Firsts back to winning ways at Larne
- Carson in the runs again, but he dropped 2 in slips.
Donaghcloney 1st XI travelled to Larne to try and return to winning ways after the recent loss to local derby rivals Millpark. Larne won the toss and decided to bowl first on what was a difficult slow green looking track.
It did not take long before Donaghcloney lost there first wicket as Gary Knox chipped one to square leg in only the second over as he was dismissed for 4. This brought in form Neil Carson to the crease to pair up with Stephen Hanna.
The pair built steadily with both men having a couple of scares along the way, before Hanna was dismissed for 18 and the score approaching 50. Allen Martin came to the crease and although there was superb understanding running between the stumps he fell for 8 with 80 on the board. read more…
Donaghcloney 2nd XI played host to basement boys Cliftonville on Saturday past knowing that only a victory would suffice as they seek to secure survival in their debut season in Division 2 Section 2.
Cliftonville won the toss and elected to ask Donaghcloney to bat on what looked to be a helpful track for bowlers. The decision seemed to be rectified as the home side lost early wickets with Richie Clydesdale, Richard Lyttle and Steven Lyttle all dismissed early in the innings.
Jim Warren was the mainstay of the innings accumulating a well crafted 41 before falling, while Matthew Lyttle posted a personal tally of 19 before he perished. read more…
