Good Luck Bruce and Thanks!

by Keith Martin on March 28th, 2014

Everyone at Donaghcloney cricket club would like to wish Bruce Topping all the best with his move to local rivals Lurgan CC. Bruce was at the club 3 years and had a major impact both on and off the pitch. On the pitch his batting was integral to much of Donaghcloney’s success in the last 3 years. Both he and Mansing put on many memorable partnerships and paving the way to many victories. Bruce brought an element of professionalism and commitment to the club and set extremely high standards for the rest of us to follow. Scoring 1500 plus runs in his 3 seasons he also taught the younger members and older players alike to value their wicket and never give up. However it is off the pitch that he will probably be missed most.
Credit must go to Steven Hanna, Mansing and himself who have rejuvenated the junior section of Donaghcloney and provided coaching of the highest standard. Bruce has also spent many hours with different individual members of the senior club working on their technique and giving them encouragement throughout the season. All Bruce’s hard work on and off the field we rewarded with Player of the year 2012 and Clubman of the year 2012 and 2013. Everyone at Donaghcloney would like to thank him for all his efforts since joining the club.  Donaghcloney’s loss is Lurgan’s gain and we wish Bruce all the best in 2014.
